NOTTINGHAM ATHLETICS SPORTSMANSHIP |
SPORTSMANSHIP COUNTS . . . BE A 'STAR! At Nottingham High School, sportsmanship is something we actively seek to teach and reinforce through our words and our actions at every opportunity. We believe it is our responsibility to promote students' appreciation of the critical role of ethics, honesty, and fair play in athletics. In addition, we believe it is important to be proactive in communicating a positive message about the many good things student-athletes do. Nottingham Athletics has high standards in regard to sportsmanship and conduct. We expect our students and coaches to uphold these standards at all times. We believe that all student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and spectators should strive to represent the very best spirit and tradition of high school athletics. Nottingham High School and the members of the Colonial Valley Conference are committed to principles of good sportsmanship and promote such sportsmanship by student-athletes, coaches and spectators and request your cooperation by supporting the participants and officials in a positive manner. Profanity, racial or sexist comments or other intimidating actions directed at officials, student-athletes, coaches or team representatives - as well as public intoxication, the consumption or possession of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products are grounds for removal from the site of competition and other disciplinary actions. As a spectator, we ask that you reinforce our high standards in regard to sportsmanship and conduct when you interact with the opposing teams, coaches and contest officials. NJSIAA Sportsmanship Statement The NJSIAA requires officials to enforce all rules regarding unsportsmanlike conduct by coaches and players. There will be no tolerance for any negative behavior, such as taunting, trash talking and verbal, written, or physical conduct related to race, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, or religion. Such behavior will result in being ejected from this event. All participants must respect the game and respect their opponents. |
